Also I'm not really sure what to do with the friend and foe section since for the most part they match up with the U.S since Puerto Rico is its territory :/ I can list them later if you want though)

Appearance: Medium length dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and tanned skin, has an athletic build and slight hour glass shape. She also has a Taino tattoo of a frog on her right shoulder. She has glasses but wears contacts most of the time; she usually has either a t-shirt or tank top with shorts or a sundress with scandals.

Personality: Maria is a very warm and friendly girl; she's very loyal to her family, although she is prone to arguing or teasing with Cuba and America. She has a tendency to be very stubborn, especially when it comes to political matters. Maria is very althletic but a bit of a sore loser. She doesn't have a huge temper but can and will grudge if you make her angry enough. (Her grudge against Spain being a prime example of this) Maria is also has huge soft spot for anything she sees as cute, and May or may not try to take said cute thing with her. She also very adventurous, loving to try new things, wether it's sports, food, dances, just about anything.

History:Puerto Rico lived with the original people (the Taino) before the Spanish explorers arrived on her island in 1493. She and her people welcomed the new comers, sharing their homes and food. Later on in 1508 colonization began and Juan Ponce de León, she was renamed again, now being called Borinquen. This is when this went down hill, big time. They made slaves of the Indians gradually killing them from overwork. Soon, African families were brought to the island as slaves. The island remained economically undeveloped until 1830, when sugarcane and other plantation were developed. Many families from Spain and European nations moved to the island, slowly marrying Taíno Indians that were left. When Puerto Rico started to push for independence, Spain granted the island powers of self-government in 1897. But during the Spanish-American War of 1898 American invaded the island and Spain eventually surrendered to the U.S. Since then, Puerto Rico has remained a U.S. territory. Her people were granted American citizenship under the Jones Act in 1917; were allowed to vote for their own governor, beginning in 1948; and now fully manage their internal affairs under a constitution. In 1954 Puerto Rican nationalists carried out an armed attack in the US Congress but over the years the Puerto Rico has been content with her Commonwealth status.
Fun facts: Puerto Rico loves to experiments with food, mixing different kinds of foods from all over together into new fishes. The results can be surprising, sometimes in a good way, some times in a bad way. She also has a tendency to sing when she cook and dance a bit to, though if she immediately stops if she thinks someone is coming or if there's guests, and gets really embarrassed if she's caught.
